A 2007-13 Silverado 1500 4x4 with the V8.
I’m becoming more and more ready to get something besides Jetta y and I’m 100% ready to make the jump. The plan is to trade the Jetta for one and save up for a 996 later down the line. I want something completely new and different to me, so why not a truck?
It’s also partly me wanting a more “carefree” car. One that I won’t feel bad about beating on a bit and one that I don’t mind getting dirty and parking up front. Also one that I can actually haul shit with without losing 50% of the power. Shit like that.....

Honest question. Would you go for the Amarok if it was sold in the States?

You should buy some hiking boots too.

July 28th we’ll hear from the judge, the offer as it stands now means I will actually make $1600 over what I bought the Jetta for. I can understand why a truck would be an attractive replacement vehicle, however gas is not gonna be cheap forever and you do need to weigh how often you’ll use your truck for truck stuff. I’m leaning towards a new Mazda 3 five door, loaded, and when required I’ll rent a truck for a day.

LOL, now I see this post.
We are doing things in very similar ways.
I’m going to buy a diesel truck (BP’d 6.0, or 7.3 or Ram 5.9), sell the GSW in October and save for a 997 :D

Honestly I don’t need anything as big as the Silverado/Sierra/Ram/F150/etc.
I would spring for a Canyon or Colorado, but I just can’t bring myself to it because all the GM cars my family have ever owned are complete trash (including my car now) and I will never buy GM.

I think the Amarok is so well styled. I don’t need a truck, but wouldn’t mind something a little different.

I think I’m gonna need a truck eventually. My girlfriend and I are planning on doing a lot of stuff outdoors so I’ll need to carry lots of gear, kayaks, bikes, etc. On top of that, I have a motorcycle and plan on doing track days so I’ll need to tow that. An Allroad (which I want) could probably handle most of that but I’d eventually want to get a boat to put at my girlfriends cabin, so I’d need a truck for that and it could handle everything else mentioned. Plus if I had a small truck for all of that I could have room for a second fun car.

Hahah, well I did think (as you saw) of getting a 6.0 F-250. But for a DD, I kinda want long term reliability.

BP’d 6.0's are plenty reliable.

Yup, it’s just a matter of finding one that comes with records of that being done and in my price range.

Or get one and get it done. There are plenty of places that do it.
There’s one I’m kinda tempted to go look at, but I’m busy getting ready for a trip soon. If it’s around when I get back I’ll go look at it.

Good point, I just need a car in operation every single day and I’d rather just get a car ready to go out the door.

Not really my thing.
Cars? German. Trucks? American. That’s just how I operate haha.
